Happy First Day of School!

Our "Summer of Fun, Lifetime of Memories" has now come to a close.  Thank you to all of our campers and their families for such a wonderful 11 weeks!

Great Works of Art!

These Pioneer campers had a blast during our Friday Assembly, celebrating our theme for this week, Great Works of Art!  Congratulations to all of our campers for successfully completing another awesome week of camp! 

Back-to-School Fair & Movie

This summer of fun has flown by!  Next week, August 18-22, is our final week of camp.  We have had such a great summer building friendships and making memories, and we hope that all of our campers have a great 2014-2015 school year!

Be sure to stick around after camp on Friday, August 22nd for the Las Vegas City Council's Back-to-School Fair & Movie.  The fun starts at 6:30 p.m., so don't be late!

You Spoke, We Listened!

Thank you for your participation in our recent survey!  Based on the results, we have decided to move our lunch service indoors, and to extend our swim time to two hours more often than Fridays alone.  Please let us know if you have any additional thoughts or suggestions in making our camp great!

Last Camp Late Night!

Camp Late Night Friday, July 11th!

It's time to beat the heat at our "Frozen" Camp Late Night!  Campers will enjoy a night of cool activities sure to take the edge off of the rising summer temps, including a marshmallow snowman building challenge, pizza, and finished off by watching the movie "Frozen".  Registration is $15 per child, and you may sign up by visiting the front desk today!

Roos-N-More Zoo

The Durango Hills Y campers and staff would like to give a big "Thank You" to Roos-N-More Zoo for bringing so many fun and furry animals to our Animal Planet camp today!  We especially loved the Capuchin Monkey...but all the animals, from the giant lizard to the baby wallaby, were amazing to see and touch.

Summer Food Service Program At the Y!

No child goes hungry at the Durango Hills YMCA!  Each day, hundreds of campers all across Southern Nevada are served a free, nutritious lunch through the Summer Food Service Program.  This healthy option saves busy parents time and money! (In accordance with Federal Law and US Department of Agriculture Policy, this institution is prohibited from discriminating on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability.) Please remember that this is a cold lunch being served.  Your camper is not obligated to eat this lunch; they can always place it on our sharing table for other campers to enjoy.

Be sure to ask for a menu at the sign in/out table!

America!

Don't miss your chance to sign up for our On-Site Specialty camp, "America!", for next week!  We will be celebrating our nation's history through arts and crafts, games, and music.  We will also be going to King Putt on Wednesday for an awesome Off-Site Field Trip.  Be sure to stop by the front desk to register, as space is limited!  

Mark your calendar - the Y will be closed on Friday, July 4th, in observance of the holiday.  We hope everyone has a safe and fun 4th of July celebration!

Camp Late Night Friday, June 27th!

Looking for a sitter tomorrow night for your camper?  Look no further!  The Durango Hills Y is offering the first of our Camp Late Nights on Friday, June 27th, from 6:00-9:00 p.m.!

For your convenience, we will take care of signing your child out of camp at 6:00 for a fun-filled night of pizza, games, crafts, and a G-rated movie.  All this is available for only $15!  Be sure to stop by the front desk tomorrow morning to register.  We look forward to seeing you there!

Environment Adventure Camp Update

Attention all "Environment Adventure" campers!  We will be going horseback riding at Horses4Heroes, Inc. on Thursday!  We will also be able to visit their petting zoo, attend an educational seminar, and go on a horse-drawn wagon ride.  The bus will leave the Durango Hills Y at 12:15 p.m., so don't be late!

Another Week of Memories Is Complete!

Thank you for another great week of memory making and fun adventures!

Here are a few reminders to have the best week possible at Y day camp:

• Be sure to apply plenty of sunscreen before you come to camp, and bring extra with you to reapply throughout the day.
• Flip flops and sandals are great for the pool area, but are unsafe during other activities throughout the day.  Please be sure to wear tennis shoes or other closed-toe shoes to camp.
• Bring a water bottle--we want to be sure that all our campers stay healthy and hydrated.  

Also, don't forget to sign up for next week's on-site field trip, Creative Canvas, before Tuesday!

This weekly gathering of all campers and staff highlights what we've learned and the friendships we've built while attending Y camp. We will also find out who has earned the honor of "Camper of the Week" in each of the age groups.

Did you know that the Durango Hills YMCA offers off-site specialty camps?  This week, campers have the opportunity to beat the heat while visiting Wet 'n' Wild water park, splashing around in the Y water parks, and having a blast on a giant slip-n-slide during our fantastic "Catch a Wave" camp!

Your "Summer of Fun, Lifetime of Memories" Begins Tomorrow!

We are so excited to be meeting and welcoming all of our campers tomorrow morning!  Our camp staff have been hard at work preparing for this big day, and we are ready for the fun to begin!

Don't forget to pack your swimming gear, two snacks, water bottle, and plenty of sunscreen.  Camp opens at 7:00 a.m., so don't be late!

Camp Payments Due for Week 1!

Don't forget that payments are due the Wednesday prior to the start of each week of camp.  So, that means that payments for Week 1, June 9th-13th, are due today!

Rather not stand in line to make your payment?  Ask the front desk about signing up for payments via auto-draft, and save $5 each week!

Preschool Camp Spots Still Available!
